Networking and Advocacy
BCWA contributes towards the improvement of the quality of life for women in general and women with breast cancer in particular through regular networking and constant communication with related organisations including government and private hospitals, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, cancer control organisations, breast cancer support group, associations of health care professionals, hospices and palliative care services, women's organisations, educational institutions and legal entities.
BCWA is a member of International Union against Cancer (UICC) where it is dedicated to global cancer control strategies. The knowledge transfer and development of BCWA staff and volunteers is fostered by the dissemination of UICC resources and researches, Reach to Recovery Conferences and fellowship programmes.
BCWA is a partner of The Cancer Council Queensland to improve the cancer control capacity of both organisations. The key strategies of this partnership lies in the exchange and collaborations of information, resources, literature, research and program activities as well as the exchange of expertise to enhance the development of BCWA staff and volunteers.
BCWA is a founding member of the Malaysian Breast Cancer Council (MBCC) aiding the formation of a united front to facilitate the development of breast cancer control strategies in Malaysia. It centres on the issue of disseminating correct knowledge and evidence-based information on breast health and breast cancer, and at the same time, demystifying the breast cancer claims in regards to breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, prevention and such.
The BCWA President is a member of the development committee of the Clinical Practice Guideline "Management of Breast Cancer" (2nd edition) under the Ministry of Health to enhance the overall care of women with breast cancer.
