Training
BCWA offers regular formal and informal training for volunteers, medical students and healthcare professionals, such as:
- Reach to Recovery training (training in giving psychosocial support-basic and intermediate levels) for breast cancer survivors (volunteers) in Malaysia and the South East Asian region who are involved in offering their time to support other women going through a similar experience of breast cancer
- Basic and intermediate level training on breast self awareness (BSA), including familiarisation with normal changes in the breast, promoting screening and early detection of abnormal changes in the breast, breast self-examination and early detection and training to conduct public education such as BSA talks or workshops
- Training in prosthesis making to facilitate the ongoing supply of prostheses to women with breast cancer
- Training for government and NGO staff such as nurses, students and other healthcare professionals where they were trained on BSA, communication skills.
